Clarity

Clarity determines how pure a diamond is. Clarity is graded using a very complex method of evaluating the size, location, nature, relief, and visibility of the inclusions, with 10X magnification by a microscope or a loupe. The certification grading report that comes with every diamond we sell will show a plotted diagram indicating the location of any inclusions or blemishes your diamond may have.

When a rough stone is extracted from carbon, deep beneath the earth, tiny traces of natural elements are almost always trapped inside. These additives affect the purity of a stone. It is the absence of these impurities which is most desirable for diamonds. These elements are called inclusions, and may sometimes be referred to as birthmarks, because they are formed naturally and are unique to each stone. Practically all diamonds contain naturally occurring internal characteristics, called inclusions, and surface irregularities, called blemishes. It is the two categories of imperfections that comprise the clarity grade of a diamond. The fewer the imperfections, the rarer and more valuable the diamond is.

The most important thing to remember when it comes to clarity is that a diamond's inclusions should not be noticeable to the naked eye. In clarity grades rated SI1 or above, inclusions are not visible to the naked eye. Since many inclusions are only visible under magnification, some buyers opt for a lesser clarity grade in order to select a rarer color or larger carat weight.

Please note: This is the way the stone appears under 10X magnification
